Diese runde Kapelle hatte ursprünglich eine strategische Funktion als Wachturm. Das erklärt sofort die zwei Schießscharten in den Wänden. Im 18. Jahrhundert wurde der Turm verkürzt und zur Kapelle umgestaltet. Im Volksmund wurde sie auch die 'Weiße Kapelle' genannt.
Das Kapellchen ist der Heiligen Apollonia geweiht. Diese Heilige lebte im dritten Jahrhundert. Sie wurde von Heiden verfolgt, weil sie Christin war. Während ihrer Verfolgung schlug man ihr die Zähne aus. Daher ist Apollonia die Schutzheilige der Zahnärzte, und früher kamen die Menschen vor allem aus Pilgerfahrt gegen Zahnschmerzen.
