Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde ein Teil der Hospicewälder von einer Militärkaserne eingenommen. Im Rahmen des Kalten Krieges wurde hier eine 'verborgene' Treibstofflagerstätte in stark gesicherten Reservoirs angelegt. Nach dem Fall der Berliner Mauer verlor die Kaserne jedoch ihren Zweck.
