Bis vor einigen Jahren waren die Teiche hier noch Zuchtteiche für Wasserpflanzen. Nach dem Kauf ließ der Naturschutzverein Limburgs Landschap vzw die Teiche umgestalten, um so mehr Naturwert zu schaffen. Die Ufer der Teiche wurden flacher gestaltet und der Schlamm wurde vom Teichboden entfernt. So ist ein kleines Teichkomplex mit Sumpfbereichen und natürlichen Übergängen entstanden. An den Ufern wachsen jetzt breite Schilfgürtel. Diese Schilfgürtel sind bei zahlreichen Vögeln, wie der Blaukehlchen und dem Schilfrohrsänger, sehr beliebt zum Brüten.
