Blick von der Molenstraat auf die Hagelendse Äcker im Mai. Auf Höhe der Molenstraat in Rillaar gab es regelmäßig Wasser- und Schlamminfektionen in den Gärten, Wohnungen und auf der Straße. Im Juni 2016 gab es während heftiger Gewitter einen wahren Schlammlauf bis ins Zentrum von Rillaar. Daher wurden zwei Holzschnitzeldämme errichtet. Holzschnitzeldämme sind einfache und kostengünstige Konstruktionen, die sehr effektiv sind. Mit Holzpfosten, Drahtgewebe und Holzschnitzeln wird eine Mauer gebaut, die die Schlammpartikel zurückhält und das Wasser verlangsamt durchlässt.
