Eine erste Burg auf dem Lehen von Saint-Fontaine wurde Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts während des berühmten Kuhkrieges zwischen der Grafschaft Namur und dem Fürstbistum Lüttich zerstört.
Saint-Fontaine war eine Lehnsherrschaft des Lütticher Feudalgerichts und gehörte Wathy de Cent-Fontaine. 1345 wurde es an Olivier d'Ohey verkauft.
Die Burgruine wurde durch einen Burgneubau ersetzt, der Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts in Flammen aufging . Graf Emile de Liedekerke baute zwischen 1820 und 1830 das heutige klassizistische Schloss an der Stelle des niedergebrannten Schlosses.
Das aus Kalk- und Sandstein erbaute Schloss Saint-Fontaine hat eine kubische Form und wird von einer Balustrade aus Terrakotta gekrönt. Im Park befindet sich die bemerkenswerte Kapelle Notre-Dame, ein romanisches Gebäude aus dem 12. Jahrhundert.
