Noch nicht so lange her (ein paar Jahrzehnte) gab es zahlreiche hohe Obstbäume in den umliegenden Obstplantagen. Die Landwirte ernteten Äpfel, Birnen, Kirschen usw. Die Ernte, die auf den Märkten von Ronse und Ath verkauft wurde, brachte ihnen ein beträchtliches zusätzliches Einkommen ein. Diese Bäume wurden dem Altar der Rentabilität und des Fortschritts geopfert? Für jeden gefällten Baum wurden ministerielle Boni gezahlt. Es kracht wirklich, wenn du sie herausziehst!!! Heutzutage hat die intensive Monokultur die Biodiversität der Flächen verdrängt und die landschaftliche Vielfalt zerstört. Hier sind noch einige Exemplare dieser Obstbäume übrig geblieben, und die Leiter (oben aufbewahrt) zeugt von jener Zeit.
