Die Gemeinde Davos umfasst beinah das gesamte Landwassertal im Schweizer Kanton Graubünden und liegt in der Region Prättigau/Davos. Die politische Gemeinde mit zahlreichen Siedlungen bestand bis Ende 2018 aus den sechs Fraktionsgemeinden Davos Dorf, Davos Platz, Davos Frauenkirch, Davos Glaris, Davos Monstein und Davos Wiesen, von denen seither allein noch diejenige von Monstein existiert.
Seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts entwickelte sich Davos zu einem international bekannten Luftkurort und trug den Titel Weltkurort Davos. Später folgte eine stärkere Gewichtung des Wintersports. Die Bevölkerung stieg von 1680 Einwohnern im Jahr 1850 auf über 11'000 im Jahr 1930 an.
