Niederweningen liegt zwischen Eggwald und Lägern am westlichen Ende des Wehntales, welches durch die Surb entwässert wird. Die 688 ha Gesamtfläche der Gemeinde verteilt sich auf 49 % Landwirtschaft, 38 % Wald, 4 % Verkehrsfläche und 9 % Siedlungsgebiet.
Die Gemeinde grenzt im Norden an Siglistorf , im Osten an Schleinikon, im Südosten an Otelfingen, im Süden an Wettingen , im Westen an Ehrendingen und im Nordwesten an Schneisingen .
