Thalwil ist eine politische Gemeinde im Bezirk Horgen des Kantons Zürich, Schweiz. Thalwil liegt auf mehreren Stufen an den Hängen des Zimmerbergs am westlichen Ufer des Zürichsees.
Thalwil liegt am nördlichen Hang des Zimmerbergs. Im Wald in Richtung des im Mittelalter als „Urwald“ angesehenen Sihlwalds liegen zwei künstliche Weiher, der Waldweiher und der Gattikerweiher. Beide dienten als Stauseen für den Betrieb der Industrien in Gattikon. Heute werden die beiden Weiher als Naherholungsgebiet sehr geschätzt. Baden ist nur im Gattikerweiher erlaubt.
