Schaffhausen ist die nördlichste Stadt der Schweiz und ist neben Basel, dem Städtchen Stein am Rhein, Neunkirch und Eglisau eine der wenigen Schweizer Städte nördlich des Hochrheins . Schaffhausen liegt südöstlich des Randen, an der Mündung der aus Norden kommenden Durach in den Rhein.
