Die Stadt Frauenfeld ˈfʀaʊəfɛld̥], älter [ ˈfrɔʊəfɛld̥]) ist eine politische Gemeinde und der Hauptort des Schweizer Kantons Thurgau sowie des Bezirks Frauenfeld.
Auf «unserer lieben Frauen Feld», also einer der Muttergottes geweihten Flur, einer Hochfläche, die nach Westen steil in die Thurebene, im Süden in einem felsigen Absturz zur Murg abfällt, wurde der Kern der Stadt Frauenfeld ab zirka 1230 auf einem Rechteck von 250 × 110 Meter erbaut.
