Sitten ist eine Munizipalgemeinde, eine Burgergemeinde mit einem Burgerrat und der Hauptort des Kantons Wallis, Schweiz. Sitten ist Hauptort des Bezirks Sitten und liegt an der Mündung der Sionne in die Rhone.
Die Stadt Sitten liegt auf etwa 510 m ü. M. im Mittelwallis beidseits der Rhone. Der alte Siedlungskern befindet sich nördlich des Rhoneufers. Er wird vom Bachlauf der Sionne durchflossen, der heute streckenweise unterirdisch gefasst ist.
