Hinwil ist eine politische Gemeinde und Hauptort des gleichnamigen Bezirks des Kantons Zürich in der Schweiz.
Die Gemeinde liegt auf dem Land und doch nahe der Stadt Zürich. Mit einer Fläche von 22,27 km² und 11'373 Einwohnern in über 4899 Haushaltungen gehört Hinwil zu den grösseren Gemeinden des Kantons Zürich.
Hinwil wird vom Bachtel überragt.
