Neben dem Hilton Hotel befindet sich ein Parkplatz, wo der berühmte Burgerbraukeller stand. Hitler entwickelte hier sein Talent für Show und Rede. Hier organisierte er zahlreiche Dinnerpartys. Am 8. November 1939 fand der erste Anschlag auf Hitler im Burgerbraukeller statt. Der Tischler Johann Georg Elser verübte den Anschlag. Er kam acht Minuten zu spät, weil Hitler zu früh gegangen war und nach Berlin fuhr, um den Plan Gelb zu besprechen. Der Plan Gelb handelte von der Invasion der Benelux-Staaten und Frankreich, die am 12. November 1939 durchgeführt werden sollte. Dieser Plan wurde aufgrund schlechten Wetters verschoben.
