Volkach ist der Hauptort der Stadt Volkach im unterfränkischen Landkreis Kitzingen in Bayern. Er bildet heute, als einwohnerreichster und größter Ortsteil, den Mittelpunkt der politischen Gemeinde Volkach. Zur Stadt wurde Volkach bereits im 13. Jahrhundert. Zunächst war er der wichtigste Ort in der mittelalterlichen Grafschaft Castell, ehe sie Teil des Hochstifts Würzburg wurde. Bereits in der Vergangenheit war Volkach einer der Verwaltungsmittelpunkte am Maindreieck.
Die Stadt liegt an der sogenannten Volkacher Mainschleife, die als größte Flussmäanderlandschaft Bayerns zum Landschafts- und Naturschutzgebiet erklärt wurde. Kulturhistorisch ist die Mainschleife vom Weinbau geprägt. Volkach war im Mittelalter ein wichtiger Weinhandelsort im Anbaugebiet Franken und die Bevölkerung betrieb selbst Weinanbau. Heute werden die Volkacher Erzeugnisse unter dem Lagenamen Volkacher Ratsherr vermarktet.
