Niederwiesa ist eine an die Großstadt Chemnitz angrenzende Gemeinde im Landkreis Mittelsachsen. Sie umfasst seit dem 1. Januar 1996 die Ortsteile Niederwiesa, Braunsdorf und Lichtenwalde. Auf 16,36 Quadratkilometern wohnen rund 5000 Einwohner. Bekannt ist das restaurierte Schloss Lichtenwalde mit seinem ausgedehnten Barockgarten.
Die Gemeinde Niederwiesa liegt an der Zschopau, rund zehn Kilometer östlich vom Chemnitzer Stadtzentrum.
