Die Kleinstadt Bad Sulza ist eine Landgemeinde im thüringischen Landkreis Weimarer Land. Sie trägt den Namenszusatz Kur- und Weinstadt und ist ein staatlich anerkanntes Heilbad. Der Kurort kann noch zum südlichen Randbereich der Saale-Unstrut-Region gezählt werden, des wichtigsten Weinanbaugebietes Mitteldeutschlands, im Bäderdreieck Bad Bibra–Bad Kösen–Bad Sulza.
Bad Sulza liegt im und am Ilmtal im Nordosten des Landkreises und ist von Berghängen umgeben, die zu den Ausläufern des Höhenzuges Finne und zur Muschelkalkformation der Ilm-Saale-Platte gehören. Bad Sulza ist an der Ilm gelegen. Man nennt die Gegend auch Thüringer Toskana.
