Limbach-Oberfrohna ist eine Große Kreisstadt im Landkreis Zwickau im Südwesten des Freistaates Sachsen, die am 1. Juli 1950 durch Zusammenschluss der Städte Limbach und Oberfrohna gebildet wurde. Limbach hatte 1883 das Stadtrecht erhalten, Oberfrohna 1935. Mit der Nachbargemeinde Niederfrohna besteht eine Verwaltungsgemeinschaft.
Limbach-Oberfrohna ist naturräumlich dem Grenzgebiet zwischen Mittelsächsischem Hügelland und Erzgebirgsvorland bzw. dem Erzgebirgsbecken im südwestlichen Teil Sachsens zuzuordnen. Südlich bzw. südöstlich der Stadt verläuft der waldreiche Höhenzug des Rabensteiner Waldes als nördlicher Ausläufer des Erzgebirgsvorlandes. Das Stadtgebiet hat im Bereich der Gemarkungsgrenze zu Chemnitz-Grüna über den Ortsteil Pleißa Anteil daran. Es werden Höhen von über 400 m ü. NN erreicht.
