Leinfelden-Echterdingen ist eine Stadt in Baden-Württemberg, direkt südlich der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart. Sie gehört zur Region Stuttgart und zur europäischen Metropolregion Stuttgart.
Die 1975 im Rahmen der Gemeindereform neu gebildete Stadt hatte schon bei ihrer Gründung mehr als 20.000 Einwohner. Daher wurde sie bereits mit Wirkung vom 1. Juli 1976 Große Kreisstadt. Heute ist sie nach Esslingen am Neckar, Filderstadt, Nürtingen und Kirchheim unter Teck die fünftgrößte Stadt im Landkreis Esslingen und gehört zum Mittelbereich Stuttgart innerhalb des gleichnamigen Oberzentrums.
