Tettnang ist mit rund 19.500 Einwohnern die drittgrößte und mit 71,22 km² die flächengrößte Stadt im Bodenseekreis in Baden-Württemberg.
Die Stadt liegt etwa neun Kilometer nordöstlich von Friedrichshafen und 13 Kilometer südlich von Ravensburg im Hinterland des Bodensees, etwa 70 Höhenmeter über dem See. Von manchem Standort aus bietet sich daher ein weiter Panoramablick auf das „Schwäbische Meer“ und die Alpenkette, vor allem auf die Berge in Österreich und der Schweiz. Nur wenige Kilometer östlich von Tettnang beginnen die ersten Ausläufer des Allgäus.
