Rade liegt etwa 5 km nordöstlich von Rendsburg am Nord-Ostsee-Kanal. Westlich verläuft die Bundesautobahn 7 von Rendsburg nach Schleswig und südlich die Bundesautobahn 210 von Rendsburg nach Kiel.
Die Europabrücke über den Nord-Ostsee-Kanal im Zuge der Bundesautobahn 7 wird auch „Rader Hochbrücke“ genannt. Sie überquert hier die Rader Insel, die überwiegend zur Gemeinde Rade gehört.
