Neukieritzsch liegt in der Leipziger Tieflandsbucht etwa 25 km südlich von Leipzig und 9 km nordwestlich der Kreisstadt Borna. Zwischen dem Leipziger Neuseenland im Osten und dem Tagebau Vereinigtes Schleenhain im Westen gelegen, wird sie von der Pleiße durchflossen. Die B 176 und die Bahnstrecke Leipzig–Hof mit dem Bahnhof Neukieritzsch führen durch die Gemeinde.
Zur Gemeinde gehören neben dem eigentlichen Ort Neukieritzsch die Ortsteile Lippendorf und Kieritzsch sowie Deutzen, Lobstädt, Kahnsdorf und Großzössen.
