Die Stadt Perleberg ist die Kreisstadt des Landkreises Prignitz im Land Brandenburg. Mit rund 12.000 Einwohnern ist sie nach Wittenberge die zweitgrößte Stadt im Landkreis. Seit 2016 trägt Perleberg den nichtamtlichen Namenszusatz Rolandstadt.
Perleberg liegt in der Prignitz am Fluss Stepenitz, welcher hinter Perleberg in das Elbe-Urstromtal fließt. Die Altstadt von Perleberg liegt auf einer aus Sandablagerungen gebildeten Insel zwischen zwei Stepenitzarmen im Stepenitztal. Dieses Gelände ist fast eben und weist nur ein leichtes Gefälle vom Kirchplatz nach Süden auf. In der Pritzwalker und der Berliner Straße steigt das Gelände zum Ortsausgang hin stetig bis auf etwa 16 Meter an. Ebenfalls lassen sich Erhöhungen im Norden und Nordwesten der Stadt feststellen. Im Gegensatz dazu ist das Gelände im Westen bei der Sükower Straße eben und flach.
