Rheinland-Pfalz [ˈʁaɪ̯nlantˈp͡falt͡s] ist ein Land der Bundesrepublik Deutschland und Teil der europäischen Großregion Saar-Lor-Lux.
Es entstand 1946 durch die Vereinigung von Landesteilen Preußens – des Südens der Rheinprovinz und des Westens von Hessen-Nassau – mit dem bayerischen Regierungsbezirk Pfalz und Rheinhessen, dem linksrheinischen Teil des Volksstaats Hessen.
