Ratingen ist eine große kreisangehörige Stadt im nordrhein-westfälischen Kreis Mettmann. Die Stadt liegt in zentraler Lage der Metropolregion Rhein-Ruhr im Übergangsbereich zwischen Niederrheinischem Tiefland und dem Niederbergischen Land. Ratingen ist mit rund 86.000 Einwohnern nach der Landes- und fast 93.000 Einwohnern nach der Gemeindestatistik die größte Stadt des Kreises Mettmann.
