Gummersbach () ist die Kreisstadt des Oberbergischen Kreises im Regierungsbezirk Köln in Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Die Mittelstadt wurde früher auch als Lindenstadt bezeichnet, da Lindenbäume die Hauptstraße säumten. Bis in die 1920er Jahre nannten die Bürger ihre Stadt auch Klein-Paris. Heute ist Gummersbach bedeutendstes Mittelzentrum im Oberbergischen Kreis und für seinen Handball-Bundesligaverein, den VfL Gummersbach, bekannt.
