Schottwien ist eine Marktgemeinde mit 642 Einwohnern im Bezirk Neunkirchen im Bundesland Niederösterreich.Schottwien liegt im Industrieviertel in Niederösterreich. Die Fläche der Marktgemeinde umfasst 12,52 km², rund 72 % davon sind mit Wald bedeckt. Der Semmeringpass verbindet das Mürztal mit dem Wiener Becken. Seit dem 13. Jahrhundert markiert er die Grenze zwischen Niederösterreich und der Steiermark. Er bildet auch die Wasserscheide zwischen dem Wiener Neustädter Becken im Osten und Mürz- sowie dem Fröschnitztal im Westen.
