Wiggensbach ist ein Markt im schwäbischen Landkreis Oberallgäu. Neben dem Markt besteht die Gemeinde noch aus den Ortsteilen Ermengerst und Westenried. Seit 1971 trägt die Gemeinde den Titel eines staatlich anerkannten Erholungsortes.
Die erste Besiedlung des Gemeindeteils Ermengerst ist für das Jahr 1037, des Ortes Wiggensbach für 1182 dokumentiert. Der 1888 gefundene Wiggensbacher Schatz, dessen Münzen sich auf das 1. bis 3. Jahrhundert datieren lassen, weist nach, dass bereits kurz nach der Zeitenwende Menschen im heutigen Gemeindegebiet siedelten.
