Die Kirche von Rysum ist auf dem Gipfel eines Hügels begraben. Wussten Sie, dass diese Kirche die älteste spielbare Kirchenorgel im Nordwesten Europas besitzt, die sich noch in einem fast originalen Zustand befindet? Die Kirche stammt teilweise aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Im 15. Jahrhundert wurde ein neuer Gemeindesaal gebaut, für den der Tuff der alten Schiffsmitte teilweise verwendet wurde. Der Glockenturm der Kirche wurde 1585 renoviert und verlor 1686 seinen Spitzen. Die Kirche enthält eine Kanzel aus dem Jahr 1801. Die Orgel der Kirche stammt aus dem Jahr 1457. Laut der Chronik von Eggerik Beninga wurde die Orgel von den Landwirten von Rysum mit ihren besten Kühen bezahlt. Sie wurde wahrscheinlich 1513 in eine Spielorgel umgebaut.
