Das Areal des ehemaligen Kraftwerks liegt südwestlich des heutigen Oviedorings, südlich der Wasserstraße, östlich der Straße An der Holtbrügge und westlich der Kleingartenanlage Wohlfahrt. In unmittelbarer Nähe befand sich das Steinkohlebergwerk Zeche Prinz Regent sowie der Bahnhof Bochum-Weitmar.
