Der Zoo Duisburg wurde am 12. Mai 1934 von Duisburger Bürgern gegründet. Bekannt ist der Zoo für sein Delfinarium und die in Deutschland erste dauerhafte und lange Zeit einzige Haltung von Koalas. Daneben werden zahlreiche zoologische Raritäten gehalten, wie z. B. Riesenotter aus Südamerika, Bärenstummelaffen und Roloway-Meerkatzen aus Afrika, Fossas aus Madagaskar, Nebelparder aus Asien oder Wombats aus Australien.
