Die Schnellfahrstrecke Köln–Aachen ist der deutsche Teil des transeuropäischen Eisenbahnnetzes PBKA für Thalys- und Intercity-Express-Züge.
Im Regionalverkehr verkehren auf der Kursbuchstrecke 480 jeweils stündlich die Linien RE 1 und RE 9 . Ergänzt wird dieses nahezu halbstündliche Angebot durch die S-Bahn-Linie S 13 Köln–Düren sowie die Euregiobahn zwischen Düren und Aachen.
