Der Hauptfriedhof Mainz ist die 1803 unter französischer Administration angelegte größte Begräbnisstätte in Mainz. Er war Vorbild für den ein Jahr später angelegten Friedhof Père Lachaise in Paris. Nicht nur zahlreiche prominente Mainzer fanden hier ihre letzte Ruhe, es befinden sich auch Ehren- und Kriegsgräberanlagen auf dem Gelände, so zum Beispiel der Deutsche Ehrenhof.
