Der Wandsbeker Marktplatz ist ein zentraler Platz und Verkehrsknotenpunkt im Osten Hamburgs. Er markiert zugleich das historische Zentrum der bis 1937 selbstständigen Stadt Wandsbek. 1962 wurde hier der U- und Busbahnhof Wandsbek Markt eröffnet. Den Platz säumen die Wandsbeker Marktstraße mit dem Kaufhaus Karstadt, dem Einkaufszentrum Wandsbek Quarree und zahlreichen Einzelhandelsgeschäften sowie die Schloßstraße mit dem Stormarnhaus und weiteren Banken und Geschäften. Im Osten wird der Platz von der Straße Robert-Schuman-Brücke mit der Christuskirche begrenzt.
Zwischen 1961 und 1962 wurde die U-Bahn im offenen Schacht durch die Wandsbeker Marktstraße zum Wandsbeker Markt gebaut. Der U-Bahnhof Wandsbek Markt, an dem bereits seit 1958 gebaut worden war, wurde 1962 eröffnet. Hier verkehrt heute die Linie U1 auf ihrem östlichen Abschnitt zwischen der Hamburger Innenstadt und den Walddörfern bis Ohlstedt bzw. Großhansdorf.
