Der Wambachsee ist einer der sechs Seen der Sechs-Seen-Platte in Wedau. Er ist der einzige See, der nicht direkt mit den anderen Seen verbunden ist. Er ist durch einen unterirdischen Kanal, der am Kanusportverein angrenzt, mit dem Masurensee verbunden.
Der Wambachsee ist der einzige See der Sechs-Seen-Platte, in dem das Tauchen gestattet ist. Der See ist auch Ausbildungsstätte des Verbandes Deutscher Sporttaucher. Ein Taucheinstieg für Sporttaucher, der den Einstieg erleichtern soll, befindet sich am östlichen Ufer des Sees.
