Die Besteigung des Katzenknipp ist ein wunderschöner Kleinod in der Nordeifel. Der Aufstieg von Schevenhütte beginnt über die ziemlich ruhige Landesstraße 25 (die auch die steilste ist) und einige Kilometer später zweigt eine gut asphaltierte Straße durch die Wälder ab, die für den Autoverkehr verboten ist. So kann man in aller Ruhe bis ins Dorf Großhau aufsteigen, mit manchmal einem herrlichen Panorama auf die Umgebung.
