Die Gustavstraße in Fürth war die alte Hauptstraße der Stadt. Die pittoreske Straße mit ihren Bürgerhäusern aus dem 18./19. Jahrhundert und ihrer ausgeprägten Kneipenszene sowie deren unmittelbares Umfeld gelten als Hauptsehenswürdigkeit Fürths, nahezu alle Gebäude der Gustavstraße stehen unter Denkmalschutz. Aufgrund von Konflikten zwischen Anwohnern, Gaststättenbetreibern und Gaststättenbesuchern beschäftigt sie in jüngster Zeit nicht nur den Fürther Stadtrat und die Gerichte, sondern wiederholt auch den Bayerischen Landtag und das Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz, Bau und Reaktorsicherheit.
Die Bauerngasse war ein Teilstück der Via Publica . Die Funktion als Hauptstraße des Marktes Fürth ging im 18. Jahrhundert auf die parallel verlaufende Rosengasse über.
