Das Musikhaus Thomann ist ein Familienunternehmen und wurde 1954 in Treppendorf von Hans Thomann sen. gegründet. Mit seinem Online-Shop für Musikerbedarf, dem Thomann Cyberstore, ist es der umsatzstärkste Musikalienhändler weltweit.
Der Treppendorfer Hans Thomann gab 1954 seinen bisherigen Beruf des Wandermusikers auf, in dessen Ausübung er unter anderem bei Zirkussen angestellt war, und machte sich mit einem eigenen Musikgeschäft selbständig.
In Würzburg studierte er Trompete. Trotz der ländlichen Struktur hatte sich Hans Thomann für ein Musikgeschäft in seinem bäuerlich geprägten Heimatdorf entschieden. Ende der 1950er und in den 1960er Jahren reiste er viel in der Umgebung herum, um mit Blaskapellen und Musikern Geschäfte zu tätigen.
