Beschreibung

Zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten laden am Wegesrand dieser 36 Etappen-Kilometer zu einem Besuch ein. Dominiert wird die Gegend vom 1.141 Meter hohen Brocken. Umgeben wird er vom Nationalpark Harz, der sich über ca. 25 ha erstreckt und 900 Höhenmeter überwindet. Der Brocken wird auch „Blocksberg“ genannt. Der höchste Berg im Norden Deutschlands, mit alpinem Klima, beeindruckte bereits Goethe und Heine. Das Brockenplateau erreicht man z. B. über den Heinrich-Heine-Weg ab Ilsenburg.
