Auf breiten Forstwegen aber auch schmalen Pfaden geht es auf rund 5 Kilometern durch den nördlichen Teutoburger Wald. Nach dem die eine oder andere Steigung überwunden wurde, bieten zahlreiche Bänke am Wegesrand Gelegenheit für die kleine Verschnaufpause zwischendurch.
Der dem Weg seinen Namen gebende Varusturm ist bis auf unbestimmte Zeit leider gesperrt.
