Vertou ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 25.541 Einwohnern im Département Loire-Atlantique in der Region Pays de la Loire.Der Name des Ortes leitet sich von dem Lateinischen Vertavum ab. Im 18. Jahrhundert wurde der Ort auch Vrezou genannt. Ins Bretonische wird der Name mit Gwerzhav übersetzt, allerdings wurde in Vertou zu keiner Zeit bretonisch gesprochen.
