Foix ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 9.493 Einwohnern . Sie ist Hauptort des Départements Ariège in der Region Okzitanien. Foix ist nach Pamiers die nach Bevölkerung zweitgrößte Gemeinde des Départements.Foix liegt rund 70 Kilometer südsüdöstlich von Toulouse am Ausgang des einstigen Gletschertals der Ariège in den Pyrenäen. Am nördlichen Stadtrand mündet der Arget von links in die Ariège, an der südlichen Gemeindegrenze von rechts der Sios.
