Bailleul ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 15.163 Einwohnern im Département Nord in der Region Hauts-de-France. Sie gehört zum Arrondissement Dunkerque, ist Hauptort des Kantons Bailleul und gehört zum Gemeindeverband Flandre Intérieure.Bailleul an der belgischen Grenze liegt zwischen den Großstädten Lille und Dünkirchen im ehemaligen Französisch-Flandern, also im äußersten Norden Frankreichs. Die Stadt selber liegt auf 44 m ü. M., und nebst der eigentlichen Stadt umfasst das 43,42 km² große Gemeindegebiet noch drei größere Weiler: La Crèche und Steent'je im Süden der Stadt, in der Ebene der Leie , und Outtersteene im Osten, unmittelbar an der Grenze zu Flandern.
