Der Sainte-Hune-Brunnen ist Teil der Geschichte des Dorfes Hunawihr. Bereits im 7. Jahrhundert wird berichtet, dass Huna, die Frau von Hunon, die in einer gallo-römischen Villa am heutigen Standort der Kirche lebte, das Leinen für die Bedürftigen am Brunnen sorgte.
Eine Legende besagt, dass Huna im Jahr einer schlechten Ernte das Wasser des Brunnens in Wein verwandelt haben soll. Sie wurde 1520 von Papst Leo X. auf Bitten des Herzogs Ulrich von Württemberg zur Heiligen erklärt und als "Saint Lavandière" verehrt.
Der obere Teil der Säule des Brunnens trägt das Datum 1656. Das angrenzende Lavoir stammt aus dem frühen 20. Jahrhundert.
Der Brunnen war eine Quelle für Trinkwasser für die Bewohner. Er war der Treffpunkt für die Waschfrauen und die Winzer.
