Es war im Besitz der Familie de Kergariou vom 17. bis zum 20. Jahrhundert. Die Schreibweise ist im Mittelalter ebenfalls Coëtilliau. Benjamin Jollivet, Autor eines Werkes über die Côtes-d'Armor, schrieb 1859: „Coatilliau ist ein modernes Schloss, das M. de Kergariou gehört, einem der Nachkommen von Alexandre de Kergariou, der 1586 zum Hauptmann-Gouverneur der Stadt und des Schlosses von Morlaix ernannt wurde. Diese Wohnstätte verfügt über einen sehr schönen Park. Vorne bemerkt man zwei tiefe Gräben, in die früher Wildschweine gesetzt wurden.“
