Sie wurde im 17. Jahrhundert erbaut und im 19. Jahrhundert an der Stelle eines alten Gebäudes aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, einer romanischen Kirche, umgebaut. Von dieser alten Kirche ist heute noch der romanische Vorbau erhalten, der am Eingang des Pfarrhauses wieder aufgebaut wurde
Im 17. Jahrhundert beschlossen die Mönche, eine neue Kirche zu bauen. Die Bauarbeiten begannen 1681 und dauerten 15 Jahre.
Die Kirche wurde während des Vendée-Krieges niedergebrannt, ebenso wie der Rest der Stadt.
Die ursprünglichen Türen, die im Inneren der Kirche zu sehen sind, bewahren die Spuren von Einbrüchen, die während der gewaltsamen Inventarisierung im Jahr 1906 während der Trennung von Kirche und Staat begangen wurden.
