Dies ist die achte Etappe der Via Tolonensis, die in Frankreich auch als GR653 bezeichnet wird, einer der vier Hauptwege von Frankreich nach Santiago de Compostela. Die Route führt von Arles über Montpellier, Castres und Toulouse zum Col de Somport, wo sie an die spanischen caminos anschließt.
Die Etappe von Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert nach Saint-Jean-de-la-Blaquière ist über 22 km lang und mit den bekannten rot-weißen Zeichen markiert.
