Hoath ist ein semi-ländliches Dorf und eine Bürgergemeinde im Stadtbezirk von Canterbury. Die Weiler Knaves Ash, Maypole, Ford, Old Tree, Shelvingford und Stoney Acre sind in der Gemeinde enthalten.
Hoath war Teil des Eigentums, das König Ecgberht von Kent im Jahr 669 für den Bau der Kirche in Reculver gewährt wurde, und blieb Teil dieses Eigentums, als König Eadred es 949 Erzbischof Oda von Canterbury übertrug. Eine Chantry, entweder in oder verbunden mit Hoath, ist im 14. Jahrhundert aufgezeichnet, mit John Gardener als Kaplan, der Nachfolger von Henry atte Were. Am 9. Dezember 1410 weihte Erzbischof Thomas Arundel eine Kapelle zu Ehren der Jungfrau Maria und weihte einen Friedhof in Hoath auf Anfrage der Bewohner und seiner dortigen Mieter, die unter der Führung von Sir Nicholas Haute, Peter Halle Esq. und Richard Hauk, dem damaligen Kaplan der Chantry, versprachen, seine Verordnungen zu beobachten.
