Richard de Clare, 6. Earl von Gloucester, starb am 14. Juli 1262 im Alter von 39 Jahren auf dem Herrenhaus von John de Criol in Asbenfield in Temple Waltham; es wurde gemunkelt, dass er am Tisch von Piers von Savoy vergiftet worden sei.
Während und vor der Herrschaft von Edward III war die Pfarrei Waltham innerhalb des Hunderts von Bridge. Nach der Fusion einiger Hunderts war bis Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts der Großteil der Pfarrei innerhalb des Hunderts von Bridge und Petham. Von den beiden Constables für den konsolidierten Hundred war der aktuelle Monarch Lord des jährlichen Gerichtshofs, der einen Constable für den Hundred von Bridge wählte.
