Berge, düstere und andere, unzählige Lochs (Seen) und eine endlos scheinende Küstenlinie, das sind in aller Kürze die Western Highlands. Eine wilde, manchmal raue, aber immer wunderschöne Landschaft. Die Küste ist so lang, weil sich zahlreiche und oft tiefe Meeresarme weit ins Landesinnere schneiden. Die Berge scheinen direkt aus dem Meer emporzuwachsen. Das Inland besteht aus Glens, die durch die Gewalt der Gletscher zu breiten Tälern ausgeschliffen wurden und im Laufe der Zeit mit Seen gefüllt wurden, die mit den norwegischen Fjorden vergleichbar sind. Allein in den Western Highlands gibt es neun Sea Lochs. Einige liegen entlang der Route. Das Gebiet ist ein Paradies für Wanderer, Bergsteiger und... Motorradfahrer.
